3 Days Tour
Delphi – Meteora
Day 1
Your driver will pick you up at your accommodation. Our first stop will be the walled monastery of Hosios Loukas and the village of Cheronea, in Central Greece. You will have 1,5 hour to explore the monastery, which is listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Built in the early 10th century, it is the largest surviving monastery of the Middle Byzantine Period. Its mosaics and architecture are sure to impress you.
Later on in the tour, you’ll get the chance to explore the picturesque village of Arachova, and right after that we’ll be arriving at the “navel of the world”, Delphi.
Delphi was the most important sanctuary of the ancient world. It was the seat of the high priestess of Apollo and oracle, Pythia, whose prophecies even affected state policies. The site is full of tributes from all over Greece.
Among the sights that you’ll have a chance to visit there are the Temple of Apollo, the Castalian Spring, the Temple of Athena Pronaia, the theatre and the stadium.
The museum hosts several world-renowned exhibits, such as the Statue of Antinous and the Charioteer of Delphi.
We will be spending the night in the village of Delphi.
Day 2
You’ll have breakfast in Delphi, and then we’ll be heading off to Meteora. After a scenic 3.5 hour drive, we’ll reach the town of Kalabaka where you’ll have lunch.
Next stop, Meteora, an impressive rock formation which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The numerous monasteries in the area seem to be hanging precariously from the huge pillars of rock they were built on. You can hike up to three of them, enjoying the beautiful, natural trails on the way.
We will be spending the night in Kalabaka.
Day 3
Our visit to Meteora continues, followed by lunch at a traditional restaurant in Kalabaka. On our way back, we will make a stop at Thermopylae, where you’ll be able to visit the site and learn everything about the historic battle that took place there in 480 B.C.
We will make one last stop at Kamena Vourla with its fish taverns and traditional Greek cuisine, before driving back to your accommodation.
