3 Days Tour
Argolis – Olympia – Delphi
Day 1
Your driver will pick you up at your accommodation and drive you to Peloponnesus peninsula, in the south of Greece. First stop, the Corinth Canal, an engineering marvel whose construction began in the late 19th century. We’ll make a 30-minute stop there, so you can take some pictures and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Next stop, Ancient Corinth. One of the most powerful city-states of the ancient world, Corinth was the epicenter of several important historic events. You will have 1.5 hour to explore the archaeological site and the museum.
The most notable sight in the area is the Temple of Apollo which dates back to the 6th century B.C. and belongs to the Doric order of architecture. The city of Corinth is also the place where St. Paul gave his famous speech in the Agora. That is why he is the patron saint of the city.
Other notable sights are the fountains of Glauke and Peirene, the theater, the marketplace and many other Roman buildings. The museum’s displays include some fine specimens of ancient Corinthian pottery and mosaics.
Our next stop is the city of Mycenae, the seat of power of one of the Trojan War factions. You will enter the acropolis through the Lion Gate. The acropolis is surrounded by the Cyclopean walls, thought to have been built by the mythical Cyclops due to the enormous size of the stone blocks that they’re made of.
The Archaeological Museum of Mycenae offers interesting insight into the everyday life of the era. And, of course, visiting the Tomb of Agamemnon is mandatory.
We will make a quick stop at the seaside town of Nafplion, which was Greece’s first capital city. We will be spending the night in Olympia.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast in Olympia, you will have the opportunity to explore the city itself, as well as the archaeological site and museum.
After lunch, we’ll be heading towards the western coast of the peninsula. We will cross the Rio-Antirio bridge, the longest fully suspended bridge in the world, linking the Peloponnesus peninsula to mainland Greece in the north. Further down along the coast is the famous city of Delphi, where we will be spending the night.
Day 3
On your last day of the tour, you will have two hours to visit the Archaeological Site of Delphi. You will enjoy your lunch of traditional dishes and then we’ll be heading back to Athens. Your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
